Have you noticed that your gums have been swollen or reddish? Have you been suffering from pain and tenderness? Or maybe your gums started bleeding while cleaning the teeth or the bad breath became worse? These can be alarms indicating that you suffer from periodontal disease. The occurrence of it is caused by the permanent accumulation of bacterial plaque and dental stones. The risk is also increased by smoking, stress, poor diet, some drugs, diabetes and other chronic diseases. It should be noted that periodontal disease is one of the most common causes of tooth loss, so treatment should begin as soon as possible.

The most common periodontal diseases:

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums that occurs with redness, swelling and bleeding of the gums. The first symptom of this disease is bleeding while cleaning the teeth. Gingivitis is easily healed with proper oral hygiene recommendations and regular professional oral hygiene. Without this disease, it progresses to a more severe form of periodontitis. Periodontitis is a long-lasting inflammation that affects not only the gums but also the jaw bone. Patients with this disease have prolonged teeth, gaps between teeth, unpleasant smell and taste, teeth become slippery. Untreated periodontitis can even result in loss of teeth. Once the right treatment has started, the development of the disease can be stopped.
